Beautiful Iris’

Hello everyone. Kia with you today and I would like to share with you my latest card.  A couple of weeks back I was away at the Creativation 2017 show and unfortunately came home with pneumonia. That was not much fun, but the best thing to do when down and out is colour a stamp image, in my humble opinion of course.

For this card, on Fabriano Hot Press Watercolour Paper I stamped my image using Memento London Fog ink, which has a hint of green in it.  I like the softness of the image instead of having the black lines. I heat set my image to prepare it for the water and paint.  To colour this beautiful Iris Orchid I used my Zig Clean Colour Brushes in Aqua, Light and Medium Greens, Light and Dark Purple, Oranges and Yellows.  I did a couple of layers of colour to get the depth of colour I wanted.  Every spring I look forward to the Iris’ blooming so I also used the 4 Seasons Kanji and English “Spring” sentiment.  I watercoloured the centre in a darker aqua colour and cut another smaller piece from my watercolour paper to fit in with the sentiment stamped. Colouring the underlay gave a bit of a border to my sentiment.  To finish I attached the panel to foam mounting strips, then attached to a double matting of purple and aqua, and of course I added a few sequins for a bit of sparkle.

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed making it.  Once done, it certainly made me feel better.  Thank you for visiting the Art Neko Blog today.  I look forward to seeing you next time.

Oh Kia, I’m sorry you were so sick – that’s no fun at all! I’m impressed you still managed to be this creative. It’s such a gorgeous card, I love irises and I think the colour palette you’ve used is so soft and fresh.
