Steampunk Gentleman with His Lady

Hello Art Neko Friends!

On a scale of 1-10, how much do you LOVE Steampunk images? For myself, it is a 10 and this Steampunk Gentleman with His Lady just lends itself beautifully to this theme. This quote by Jean- Jacques Rosseau is so fitting, it says, ” The world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless.”

Are you wondering what Steampunk is all about? Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and … that have developed from the aesthetics of steampunk fiction, Victorian-era fiction, art nouveau design, and films from the mid-20th century.  I have been enchanted by the beauty and wonder of Steampunk.

You can create this or other beautiful artwork with the image I used called Steampunk Gentleman with His Lady. This image was stamped in Memento Black ink on white cardstock. Using prismacolor pencils, I colored the image with muted browns, yellows and golds. Once I finished coloring the image, I use the Antiqued ink and dropped it all over the image I colored, the saffron cardstock and the Hot ait balloon image from B-muse. Taking my papersnips, I trimmed out the hot air balloon image from B-muse Hot Air Balloon collage sheets. When I laid the image on the card, it seemed to get lost on the paper, adhering it to black cardstock and trimmed around it.

To finish the card, adhere all of the pieces together, cut out the filagree corners on both yellow and black cardstock. Using liquid glue, adhere  them to the card. Using Viva Liquid pearls, create  a lacy border by starting with a triangular shape and adding more “circles” along the v-shapes. To complete the card, add a border in the upper left hand corner of drops with the Viva Pearls.

Be sure to stop by tomorrow to see what Holly has in store for you! Thank you for taking a look!

What a wonderful vintage look you’ve given this great image, with your soft colours and distressed feel. Great work layering the balloon on black – so much detailed cutting and so worth it.

I love your Steampunk card, Chrissy. You did an awesome job. I didn’t see that image in the store, but I am glad you did. It works so well with the collage sheet.
