Butterfly Birthday

Birthday Butterfly

Hello everyone, Kia here with you today.

I am sharing with you this birthday card that I did using this Butterfly Stencil.  I forgot I had this or I would have used it much sooner, as it is very pretty.  I used the butterfly sheer image and have kept the negative butterfly for use on another card.  For my background I masked off my watercolour paper to make a frame and using my Bister powders I sprinkled in the blues, greens and yellows before spritzing with water to activate the powders.  I used my heat gun to dry the background, then framed with a darker blue/teal paper before attaching to my card base.  The butterfly has a lovely sheen and is somewhat translucent allowing a hint of what is underneath, like some butterflies.  As I am always in need of birthday cards, I added a die cut sentiment done in gold metallic paper and finished off with a few sequins.

Thank you for visiting today … I look forward to seeing you next time.

Great background, Kia – perfectly finished with the sequins and metallic sentiment. I love that butterfly – it reminds me of the designs in a couple of Chinese embroidery books I have. I look forward to seeing what you do with the negative.

Oh, how cool!!!!!!! I love that gorgeous background and your butterfly! It almost looks like the butterfly is semi-transparent. Just gorgeous!
