Little Ms. Mouse

Little Ms. Mouse take Her Daily Bath in Bubbles

Hello Everyone – This is Chrissy D here! I have fallen in love with these adorable Mouse/ Tea images! This  Little Ms. Mouse takes her daily bath in bubbles  set was SO much fun to color! I used my Copic Markers and colored on my White Cardstock after stamping the image with Black Memento ink. Once I finished coloring the image, I used a Scor-pal and created an embossed line to frame the image. Using the stamp Whimsical and Kind Sayings, I used a water based marker and colored the Thinking of you image, one word at a time to “stack it” as it would not fit across the page the way it was designed.

I will often use a general statement image like Thinking of you, because I know I can grab it for nearly any occasion. However, I do confess, that I am AWFUL at actually mailing my cards. I tend to hoard them in my craft room, then if a friend comes over, I ask her to take a stack home so I can create more and not have extras lying about. Are you like that?

To finish my card, I used light Blue Nuvo drops and black gems along the bottom. These gems are some of my favorites! Just the right embellishment for nearly any project. Thank you for stopping by and taking a peek!

Bold Birds

Hello Everyone! Today, I decided to try something different with the State Birds stamp set. I was looking around and thought I would challenge myself to an Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers. The challenge I decided upon was napkins. Yep. I decided to live dangerously, I know!

This is the picture of the Inspiration piece I took from:

I decided to go with the Color combination AND the circular motion of the plate and floral design.

State Birds

I stamped the State Birds stamp set  FIVE times on White card stock. I used sponge daubers and a bold yellow and Navy ink to add the shading. I cut those and matted them on Navy Cardstock. I then cut a gold ring using a circle cutter using my Circle Nestibilities. I sponged the edges and then alternating space, I looped it through and under alternating rectangles. I then had a Words die cut and cut out the Thanks to finish all of the pieces of the card front and matted it on Black card stock. The base of the card stock measures 5″ x 7″ folded (10″x7″ before it is folded), so I will need a n A7 size envelope.

To finish the card, I cut out the 5th image of the bird and mounted it on top of the circle, using some pop dots to create some dimension with the bird.

Thank you for taking the time to look!

お主は俺の敵か? Onushi wa ore no teki ka?

OK this is Chrissy D here – and I couldn’t help myself with this CUTE little Samurai cat. Here is a sassy Samurai cat and he is saying: お主は俺の敵か? Onushi wa ore no teki ka? You wanna piece o’ this? (literal translation: Are you my enemy?)

Well, I know YOU are not my enemy – but I thought it would be fun to share that. I do not read Japanese, nor do I speak it, so I have no idea even how to pronounce it. I am sure GOOGLE would be able to tell me though, right?

I had so much fun playing with this stamp set and creating a background to match the cat. If you love Asian type images, Art Neko has a wide variety of beautiful images. However, even if the Asian style is NOT your type, I know there are more images than we can imagine to draw from our creative juices.  For instance, Art Neko offers so many beautiful florals, you can spend an hour or more looking through the variety of luscious papers, punches and images! Then let’s say you like whimsical and FUN images that may strike your humorous side – you can see those HERE. I love the fact Art Neko has a search button because I can type in whatever words I want too and seach to find what I am looking for!
All right, moving on to my card! I had a ton of fun playing with my Gelatos. I started out with Water color paper and scribbled my gelatos across the background in a “tiger” pattern. I sprayed water with a mister and then using my Aquapainter and brush strokes I blended the colors in a bit. The little circles behind the images, was a scrap I had left for a die cut, I wanted to use up.

I stamped the Samurai Cartoon Cat in Memento Black ink and colored him with my Copic Markers and White gel pen. I matted the card on Black cardstock and then some orange cardstock.

Once finished, I stamped the sentiment using the image from this Tiger’s Galore sheet and added these Iridescent Round Faceted Gems

Thank you for stopping by! Enjoy your Labor Day!

Butterflies and Flowers

Hi Everyone, Chrissy D here!!! Every now and then I see an image or a technique that I just have to try but do not always have the correct supplies, so I improvise… Some times it works and other times, I throw the project in the trash or set it aside for another day. I got lucky this week and it turned out. *HAPPY DANCE*
I started with the Crafters Workshop stencil, Treescape and taped it down to Smooth White cardstock with my painters tape. I used a Stipple Brush along with several ink colors – mustard, navy, light blue, lavender and olive to create the background. Using the Butterflies and Flowers bookmark,  I stamped the image using Staz On Black Ink and then proceeded to clean it right away using the StazOn All Purpose Cleaner to clean the stamp.  Art Neko also carries refills for this great cleaner! You can find the StazOn All-Purpose Stamp Cleaner Refill here.
Butterfly border

I grabbed my old Watercolor crayons from my stash and used my Aquapainter to watercolor the floral image. However, as I was looking around Art Neko, I found this! Have you seen these? Liquid Ink Markers Set (10)These sound so cool! These markers can be can be blended with a watercolor brush to create even more colors. Imagine the possibilities! Adding them to my WISH LIST! I love FUN, NEW toys, don’t you?

To finish off the card, I stamped Thank You in StazOn ink and added Stickles to the flowers on the bookmark.  I appreciate you stopping by today! Be sure to come back tomorrow to see Miss Holly Brown’s artwork. Have a great day!

Falling Leaves

Hey Everyone – Chrissy D., here in Wisconsin. Right down the road the leaves are starting to change. School will be starting for many children this week and we can begin to enjoy a little cooler weather. I may have mentioned fall is my favorite time of year. I have had so much fun playing with the leaf images from Art Neko and pulling out some of my supplies that have sat for quite awhile.

I started with Navy Cardstock and stamped the leaf images from the set of Leaves, Acorns and Kanji set using White Craft Ink. I then used a sponge (Art Neko sells a fabulous Sable brush for this, I intend to order!) to apply my Chalks to create this background of cascading leaves. I added some faux stitching to the background before I added layers of Mustard and Olive cardstock. (Be sure to check out ALL of the gorgeous papers and card stock Art Neko has to offer! WOW!!! What a wonderful variety for you to get your Creative Genius on!)

chalkedleavesOnce the background was complete, I used my Big Shot and my Nestabilities Die Set Labels 2 on the Navy Cardstock and using Bright white cardstock the circle die. I then stamped Thinking of You in Navy ink. Once I had that complete, I stacked them using foam mounting squares to add a little dimension to the card. I then stamped the assorted leaves from the Leaves, Acorns and Kanji set on white cardstock, inked the entire image with Versamark ink and using a stipple brush added the chalks . I then fussy cut them out and adhered them to the white cardstock.

To finish the card off, I used a Navy Sharpie marker I added some free hand dots around the circle and some dew drops in each of the four corners.

Be sure to stop by tomorrow to see what Kia has to share!

Watercolored Fall

Fall thinking of you
Hey Everyone! It is Chrissy D again. Kelli was unable to get her post up this morning, so I thought I would fill in! I created this card the same day I did yesterdays card and was playing with my gelatos. I started with some textured card stock and just colored the background with the gelatos. I then used a watercolor brush and dispersed the colors around with some water. I must have looked like I was having a lot of fun, because my 12 year old daughter immediately came in and asked to create with me. FUN bonding time. I love stamping with my girls. Do you stamp with your children too? There are moments I want to run and hide by myself – I call that Mommy therapy. 🙂

Anyways – I easily digress… First, I heat set the water colored background to make sure it was good and dry. I used the beautiful fall images from the Set of Leaves, Acorns, and Kanji and stamped them in Black Stazon. I love the spellbinders dies, but can not recall the name of this one. I used the metallic gelatos  to frame the edges and watercolored those as well. Once the edges were dry, to complete the card I stamped the Thinking of You  (also available in the Sayings and Quotes sheet) in Black Staz On  and tied this beautiful satin ribbon bow to finish the card off.

If this is your first time here, I hope you will take some time to look around and see what our other talented designers have to share. The beauty in their work inspires me to try new things! Enjoy your day!

Fall is in the Air

HI Everyone! Chrissy D here. With fall right around the corner, I thought it is the perfect time to pull out some beautiful leafy images to get us in the mood as we enjoy a few weeks of our remaining summer!

I was recently inspired by Holly Brown and a Spray Starch background she created. I decided though to put a twist on it and instead of using glossy black cardstock, I used white sparkly cardstock. This is what I did to create the background… I lightly sprayed spray starch on the paper, then sprinkled Pearl Ex onto the paper. I then sprayed it again with the spray starch. I then crumpled some saran wrap and laid it on the top smooshing it all in! Then I let it dry for about 30 minutes and created the remainder of the card. FUN technique!!

I stamped the acorn and leaves from the Set of Leaves, Acorns, and Kanji in Black Stazon in and versamark then stippled with Pearl Ex to get the color on the images.  I stamped the Happy Birthday image in Black Staz on along the light blue cardstock. I punched the border using Martha Stewarts  Three Edge Punch. Once assembling this, I used pop dots to give the acorn and leaf more dimension on the card. I had so much fun making this card, I created a second one that I will post on the 29th!
Thank you for stopping by! Stop by tomorrow to see what Kelli has in store for you to see!
