It’s me, Sabrina, with another card to share with you, showing a silhouetted girl in a garden with paper lanterns hanging overhead. The stamp I used is called Silhouette: Framed Girl beneath Chinese Lanterns. I have always loved silhouetted images, especially ones with an old-fashioned feel such as this one has. It reminds me of several favourite childhood books and illustrators.
To start with, I stamped my image on white card with Brilliance Graphite Black ink, which I find very good for solid images, and embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I sponged a little Squeezed Lemonade distress inks around the lanterns, and use Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Dusty Concord to sponge in a deep night sky. I spritzed it lightly with water and left it to dry. Originally I had I really wanted to make this into a swing or flip-flop card, but the image was just the wrong size to work well, so in the end I had to give up on that idea and make a simple sponged and dry-embossed background for it. I used a frame with stars and scrolls to pick up on the night sky. After embossing a piece of white card, I sponged it with the same inks that I had used on the image panel, using some of the yellow inside the frame.
I used a Sakura Stardust pen to add silver to all the stars in the frame, and a few silver dots scattered here and there, and then I added the silhouetted girl.
My “dreaming” sentiment comes from the Bookmarks and Sentiments set. I thought it went very well with the nostalgic feel of the girl in the garden. I stamped it on white card, sponged it with Antique Linen to give it a more aged look in keeping with card, and folded it into a small banner.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend. Remember to come by again next week to see more beautiful creations from the team.
