Summertime Siamese Cat

It’s Sabrina here today, and as we’re in full summer mode, spending more time outdoors, I have a simple project to share today – a Summertime Siamese Cat, using the Siamese Cat with Brushtroke Butterfly and Cat Kanji stamp from Art Neko.  I think this is such a lovely image, I’ve made several cards with it. This one was meant to have the colours of the Irish flag, as I used it for a card swap recently, so I coloured the flower orange, and the grass green, and added some little punched banners in the same colours.

There’s not much to say about this, other than that I used my old Marvy Markers to colour and stamp the image, huffing after colouring. Then I layered it onto a lacy scalloped square, and popped it up onto a base which was embossed with a polka-dot pattern. I was afraid that the embossing might affect the little Irish banners, so I mounted them onto light cardstock before adding them to the card.

Since I omitted the butterfly image from the stamp, here’s another butterfly for you instead:  a bookmark for summer holiday reading, made with one the the stamps from the Bookmarks and Sentiments set. Now I can’t remember what I had in mind when I originally started colouring the flowers yellow – by the time I was part way through I decided that it reminded me very much of freemontodendron, California flannel bush. We don’t see a lot of it here, but it does grow well in sheltered places and is such a gorgeous riot of vivid colour on a wall. My image was stamped on white card with Versafine Onyx black, and then coloured with Polychromos pencils. I used Sakura  Stardust pencils to add some sparkle to all the stamens, and a Spectrum Noir glitter pen on the butterfly.

A quick summer memory – most of our childhood cats were home-lovers, and someone always was organised to look after them when we went on holidays – the dogs came with us. But, we had a pedigree Siamese who absolutely loved the car and always came along with us, we have quite a few photos and snippets of cine film showing her walking daintily down the track to the beach or across the fields.

Thanks for coming by the blog this week ! Enjoy your weekend – read a book, create a memory… and make sure to come by again next week for some more creative inspiration from the team.
