Sympathy Butterfly

Hello Art Neko fans, Kia here with you today to share this sympathy card.

I think we all need to have a few sympathy cards in our stash, which is what inspired this card.  I love using butterflies in general, but also think they are perfect for sympathy cards.

For the butterflies I wanted the background to have some movement, so I did my background using a foam brush and a sweeping motion across the paper using alcohol inks on glossy paper.  I used dark blues, turquoise and a lighter blue along with a hint of pinks, which show up better in real life. I then stamped the butterfly from the Butterflies and Dragonflies Plate A199 and the Sympathy sentiment on acetate and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. The detail in the butterfly shows beautifully done in the silver. I attached the acetate with vellum tape to my alcohol background. For the frame I used the negative left from die cutting another frame, which I think frames the piece nicely.

To finish I added a few sequins in the silver and blue and as I was gluing on acetate I used glossy accents.

Twisted Pop-Up Card with Spring Flowers

Hi everyone, it’s Holly posting today.  I played with the spring flowers and butterflies from the Flowers and Whimsy set (A410) from Art Neko.  These stamps are perfect to use with this fun Twisted Pop-Up Card technique.  The tutorial for this technique is over at SCS, so click HERE if you’d like to check it out.  This card is fun and interactive and perfect when you want to surprise someone.

I cut out the pieces for the card first, and then I mixed and matched the stamps from the Flowers and Whimsy sheet (A410) until I was satisfied with the arrangement.  The flowers and butterflies are colored with Copic markers.  I chose a classic spring combo of yellow wildflowers to go with the green papers on my card.

Butterflies and Flowers

Hi Everyone, Chrissy D here!!! Every now and then I see an image or a technique that I just have to try but do not always have the correct supplies, so I improvise… Some times it works and other times, I throw the project in the trash or set it aside for another day. I got lucky this week and it turned out. *HAPPY DANCE*
Treescape
I started with the Crafters Workshop stencil, Treescape and taped it down to Smooth White cardstock with my painters tape. I used a Stipple Brush along with several ink colors – mustard, navy, light blue, lavender and olive to create the background. Using the Butterflies and Flowers bookmark,  I stamped the image using Staz On Black Ink and then proceeded to clean it right away using the StazOn All Purpose Cleaner to clean the stamp.  Art Neko also carries refills for this great cleaner! Butterfly border

I grabbed my old Watercolor crayons from my stash and used my Aquapainter to watercolor the floral image. However, as I was looking around Art Neko, I found this! Have you seen these? Liquid Ink Markers Set (10). These sound so cool! These markers can be can be blended with a watercolor brush to create even more colors. Imagine the possibilities! Adding them to my WISH LIST! I love FUN, NEW toys, don’t you?

To finish off the card, I stamped Thank You in StazOn ink and added Stickles to the flowers on the bookmark.  I appreciate you stopping by today! Be sure to come back tomorrow to see Miss Holly Brown’s artwork. Have a great day!
