A Rose in Summer

Hello everyone, Kia here with you today and I would like to share this card I made for today’s post.  As most everyone knows, I love Clean and Simple cards.  I like the open airy feeling they give, and that is what I was thinking while making this card.  For this card I used a couple stamps. First is the leaf background stamp, which I stamped using a citrus green ink.  I cut the panel to size and attached to a vellum die cut stitched rectangle.  I then stamped the Old Fashioned Rose 3, heat embossing with gold embossing powder, and fussy cut one of the flowers for my card.  I watercoloured the rose using Zig brushes in a lemon yellow, and the citrus leaves, then styled and attached to the raised panel on a foam dot.  I then added a strip of  gold glitter tape to my card base, and stamped and heat embossed the summer sentiment from the 4 Seasons Kanji and English, using gold embossing powder.  And to finish, a few sequins, just in case there wasn’t enough sparkle!  I hope you enjoy my card today and I will see you next time.

Rose Garden Fairy

Hello! Leah with you today with a card that is perfect as spring gets underway. I fell in love with this image when I first saw it and couldn’t wait to watercolor it. It’s called Delicate Framed Fairy in a Rose Garden.

If I could be a fairy this one would be it 🙂 I started by stamping the image onto watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then used Gansai Tambi watercolors to color the image. As I continue to learn how to paint with watercolors one of the best things to do is decide on your colors and aim to paint them in as few washes as you can. Also to pay attention to light and dark areas, contrast is what makes an image come alive.

I added a die cut doily strip to the bottom and chose to keep the contrast high by giving her a sparkly black background. Some machine stitching around the border finished it off.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and that if it’s spring time where you are that you are starting to warm up! Thanks for visiting today!

Glorious Rose

Hello all, Kia here with you and I would like to share this beautiful Old Fashioned Rose with you today.

With the first day of spring being this past Monday, I have bright and yellow on my mind.  One of my dear friends lives in British Columbia and she belongs to an International Womens Soriority, where the flower is the Yellow Rose.  I would like to send her this card to give to one of her Sorority Sisters, hence my choice to watercolour in the yellows.

To start, I am using Fabriano 140lb Hot Press Watercolour Paper.  I love this paper for heat embossed images as it embosses beautifully.  I watercoloured the Rose using Zig Brushes in several shades of yellow, and for the leaves I used a few shades of greens.  Once my image was dry I stamped the lovely Rose sentiment in a Burnt Orange, then matted using a coordinating yellow cardstock, and added a bit of bling via sequins to finish.

I very much enjoyed the relaxing time spent colouring this image and hope you enjoy this card as well.  Thanks so much for visiting the Art Neko Blog today … I look foward to seeing you next time.
