Modern Grid Fantail Goldfish

Hi everyone!  I hope you are enjoying your summer season! I decided to play a bit with the fun Fantail Goldfish  this week. Have you seen the gorgeous card that Kia created using the same image? Great minds think alike, I didn’t even know she created her project until after I created mine. 🙂

I started this technique by stamping the Fantail Goldfish  several times around the white cardstock using black Memento Ink.  The technique I used is called Modern Grid and was originally a Technique Junkies Newsletter technique from many years ago. I created the grid with a ruler and then using markers, I colored some blocks blue, yellow and orange. Once I was done doing that, I used the writing tip of the markers to create designs in some of the “grids.” Using Alcohol Markers, I colored the fish creating a fun pattern with yellows, blues and oranges on the fish.

I stamped the Happy Birthday image  in blue ink on white cardstock. I cut around the image using scissors and mounted the words using pop dots. Using a quarter of sheet of orange cardstock and navy for the base, I layered the stamped cardstock to the cardbase.

Wishing you a safe and fun Fourth of July! Thank you for stopping by and come back this week for more great creations from our talented Design Team. Have a great week!

Those fish are just beautiful! It’s a fun technique, too – I remember when it was a TLC years back, but I never thought to doodle designs like that into each square. It looks just super.
