Hello! Leah with you today with a card that is perfect as spring gets underway. I fell in love with this image when I first saw it and couldn’t wait to watercolor it. It’s called Delicate Framed Fairy in a Rose Garden.
If I could be a fairy this one would be it 🙂 I started by stamping the image onto watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then used Gansai Tambi watercolors to color the image. As I continue to learn how to paint with watercolors one of the best things to do is decide on your colors and aim to paint them in as few washes as you can. Also to pay attention to light and dark areas, contrast is what makes an image come alive.
I added a die cut doily strip to the bottom and chose to keep the contrast high by giving her a sparkly black background. Some machine stitching around the border finished it off.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card and that if it’s spring time where you are that you are starting to warm up! Thanks for visiting today!
Wow, Leah, what fabulous colouring, especially of the dress! You’ve given it a really sheer gauzy look, just beautiful.
GORGEOUS – love the background paper and the soft colors of the fairy. Absolutely stunning.
