It’s Sabrina here today with a small 3D project, using the Whimsical and Kind Sayings set to present a bug in a box as a small get-well gift. Sorry you caught a bug? You won’t be sorry you caught this one!
The Whimsical and Kind Sayings set includes a little ladybug and a bee, and “Sorry You Caught A Bug”, along with an assortment of other useful everyday sentiments. I was casting around for a way to use “Sorry You Caught A Bug” other than simply using the bug or bee in a jar – and came up with this idea. The box was created using a Sizzix matchbox die, Bazzill card and some old DP for the outside. I stamped the ladybug and sentiment in black before assembling the outside of the box. Then a added a liner cut from the same card as the actual box – adding a tab to make it easy to lift. Here I stamped the “Get Well Soon” sentiment. To give you an idea of the finished size, the Sizzix die that I used is one of their Thinlits, and creates a box which measures 3/4″ x 2 5/8″ x 3 1/2″.
And inside – something to bring a smile, I hope; a couple of origami morning glory flowers and a pleated leaf, along with a full-color version of the ladybug. This time I stamped it on watercolour paper and embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I cut it out, coloured it with Inktense pencils and shaped it slightly with a large stylus before adding it to the leaf.
Speaking of origami – why don’t you take a few minutes to check out the gorgeous selection of Japanese papers in the Art Neko store. And remember to come by again next week for some more inspiring creations from the team.
Here’s a close-up of my flowers: I used regular origami paper, and added details to the flowers with a white gel pen and some Stickles.
